WSV - Für lebendige Wasserstraßen
Die Wasserstraßen- und Schifffahrtsverwaltung des Bundes (WSV) gehört zum Ressort des Bundesministeriums für Digitales und Verkehr (BMDV). In der WSV arbeiten bundesweit rund 12.500 Beschäftigte. Mit über 900 Auszubildenden in zahlreichen technischen und nicht technischen Berufen ist die WSV eine der großen Ausbildungsverwaltungen des Bundes.
Aufgaben der WSV:
Die WSV gliedert sich in die Generaldirektion Wasserstraßen und Schifffahrt (GDWS) mit Sitz in Bonn, Kiel, Aurich, Hannover, Münster, Magdeburg, Mainz und Würzburg und die Wasserstraßen- und Schifffahrtsämter sowie die Wasserstraßen-Neubauämter deutschlandweit in den Regionen.
Um einen reibungslos fließenden und damit wirtschaftlichen Schiffsverkehr zu ermöglichen, betreiben und unterhalten wir die Bundeswasserstraßen und die dazugehörigen Anlagen (Schleusen, Wehre, Schiffshebewerke, Brücken usw.) und bauen sie bedarfsgerecht aus. Ferner beraten, unterstützen und lenken wir den Schiffsverkehr durch unser Fachpersonal in den Verkehrs- und Revierzentralen. Wir sorgen als größte Infrastrukturbehörde für einen sicheren und reibungslosen Schiffsverkehr. Wir kümmern uns nicht nur um die Instandhaltung und den Ausbau der wichtigen Bundeswasserstraßen und deren Anlagen, wie Schleusen, Brücken und Hebewerke, sondern auch um die Routen in Nord- und Ostsee und die Seehafenzufahrten an der Küste. Unsere Wasserstraßen sollen leistungsfähig und sicher sein und dabei gleichzeitig ökologischen Ansprüchen genügen. Wir bringen Wasserwirtschaft, Naturschutz, Stromregulierung und Verkehr unter einen Hut. Dabei haben wir auch den Klimawandel im Blick – damit unsere Wasserwege in der Binnen- und Seeschifffahrt auch morgen noch genutzt werden können. Viele wegweisende Projekte werden von uns umgesetzt. So schaffen wir Zukunftsperspektiven und sorgen dafür, dass unsere Infrastruktur auch künftig alle Herausforderungen meistert.
